Der. I have no idea where my camera charger is. Did I even pack it? Hmm.

Oh well. Meanwhile, remember that $150 textbook I found online for $30? Now I know why I got it so cheap! Printed on the cover is “This edition is manufactured in India and is authorized for sale only in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. Circulation of this edition outside of these territories is UNAUTHORIZED.”

DUDE. I have a BLACK MARKET physics textbook!

The contents are identical to the $150 version, it’s just printed on a lower-quality paper, and it’s in black and white, but it’s a physics textbook! I really couldn’t care less. Also, theirs come split in half, whereas mine is a luscious, doorstopping 1883 pages! Paperback, 8×10 inches and 2 5/8″ thick. I can’t wait to show off my illegal textbook to all the other kids. I bet they don’t have illegal textbooks like mine!

Huh. Well, that explains why my official schedule is so different from what I wrote down. It turns out that when I was signing up for courses, I accidentally typed in the wrong course number, putting me in Intro to Poli Sci as opposed to Intro to American Politics. Oh well, both sound nifty, and Intro to Poli Sci fits in my schedule much better, so three cheers! And I’m still going to try to get into the Public Opinion and American Democracy course anyway, so it might not even matter.

Clip from Corpse Bride! MAN, they’ve come a long way since Nightmare Before Christmas. It looks fantastic!

BTW, the two Serenity clips MovieFone posted are now seven! And speaking of Serenity clips, the last Session 416 clip is up.

And speaking of awesome upcoming movies, I’m peeved that Dallas gets Mirrormask, but Philly doesn’t. I guess that makes up my mind for me, whether I see Mirrormask or Serenity on the 30th. (Above link also contains a listing of some excellent book-related Katrina charities, and part of the epic “demon salsa” tale currently unfolding on Neil’s blog).

I haven’t really been in a blogging mood recently, but I feel a brief recap is fitting.

Firstly, Ko’s and my room could kick your room’s shiny rear end. So geekish, and so pretty! Pictures soon to come, as soon as my new bed stuff arrives. And my Serenity poster that I ordered the other day on eBay! Of course, because that’s just my luck, I had to order it the same day they released the new International Poster. Anyway, my new bed stuff is gooooooorgeous, and I got everything at ridiculously good prices. I win at shopping!

In general, I’m quite pleased with my classes this semester. Today was our first day! The Poli Sci course I signed up for as a filler actually looks quite cool, so I definitely won’t be disappointed if I don’t get into the more advanced class. Either way, the timing of my schedule works swimmingly. In case I didn’t post before, I’m taking: Cinema Production, Mathematics of Computer Science II, Psychology of Perception, Intro to American Politics, and Physics.

New York was utterly awesome. Mom and I shopped long past the point we should have dropped. We also saw the Matisse exhibit at the Met, which was fantastic. Spamalot was crazy fun, yet disappointing at the same time. I wanted to shout, “Come on, Eric Idle! You’re a much better songwriter than this!” And format-wise, a musical about knights is a lot less funny than a bunch of knights that randomly burst into song. Of course, all this was offset by the presence of Alan Tudyk who is utterly hilarious beyond words. Alas, terrible luck, I didn’t get to meet him. But I did pass a note detailing next month’s Pennsylvania Shindig to one of the security guys, and he said he’d get it to Alan. It’s a long shot, but there’s no harm trying. We also saw The Light in the Piazza, which had utterly gorgeous staging. I was built up a bit too much for it, but I still really enjoyed it.

MAN. Rebecca and I had this same idea when we were in New York last Spring. Except we called it “Corpse Cam”, and our scam was going to be a lot more in-depth. A section of the site about the “deceased” (played by me), a fake Livejournal for our girl that went back at least several months, etc. Come on, if you’re going to run an internet gag, go full hog!

So I’m back in Philly. Since I arrived, I have had leftover pudding, put away 2/3 of my clothes, and recounted the plot of Serenity to Ko, who would rather wait for it to come out on DVD than see it in theatres due to the violence.

Meanwhile, here’s a list of organizations whose offers of aid have been denied. Shame on you, Michael Brown. Shame on you, George Bush. This is disgusting.

Two new Serenity reviews, one very favorable and the other “It’s not a second season of Firefly, and therefore it sucked.” Very mild spoilers.

Meanwhile, I’m irked because I had preordered Anansi Boys and the Serenity Visual Companion a few weeks ago, and they should have shipped yesterday. Amazon says (for reasons beyond my comprehension) that they won’t be shipped until September 7. I just emailed customer service to gripe about it. Why does Amazon list two seperate release dates for Anansi Boys on the same page? And if Anansi Boys indeed comes out September 20th, why will it take a week to be shipped? And why does Thud! show “Usually ships within 24 hours” under Availability, when it shouldn’t come out for another two weeks?

Good lawd. Outtakes from several Serenity cast photoshoots! (No spoilers, obviously. They have nothing to do with the movie itself.) Sean Maher wins the “stupid looking hair” award, and the second image kills me dead. Nathan looks so amused — the Mal/River fans are going to be having a field day! It took me a while to find the rest of Alan Tudyk’s body. It’s nice that he and Gina are side by side for once!

As for the third image, Ron Glass looks ready to dance flamenco, Summer looks ready to dance the Cell Block Tango, Alan looks ready to introduce Masterpiece Theatre, and Sean looks ready to head to the garage to give Greased Lightning a tune-up.

As for all the rest, someone needs to get Summer a big, greasy burger, and STAT. Look at her little arms in that first individual shot! I could snap her wrists with my thumb and index finger! EAT, woman! And ditto for Jewel Staite. I miss my “actually has some meat on her bones, rather than being stick-thin” Kaylee. Heck, greasy burgers for everybody!
