Bravo! Via TLC, A comma has been inserted into the new GoF teaser poster! If only a similar alteration had been made by the promoters of “Two Weeks Notice”! I was at the point where if it hadn’t been changed by this week, I would have photomanipped it myself for my own sanity. I’m actually not the much of a grammar nazi usually, but for some reason, this majorly irked me.

In other news, I’m feeling fabulous now. I’m healing rapidly, if the amount of blood on the gauze is any indicator, and I’m in no pain. I don’t think I’m quite ready for solid foods (or “almost solid” my fellow Zdob si Zdub friends might joke), but I don’t doubt that tomorrow I’ll be macaroni-ing and mashed potato-ing with the best of ’em. All the numbness is gone, and I’ve been yapping up a storm to try to get the stiffness out of my jaw, as it doesn’t hurt to talk anymore. I spent quite some time talking to Mom about Star Wars and Firefly and Cyth’s comments about the use of props in Lost‘s “Whatever the Case May Be” versus Firefly‘s “War Stories”, and just how astonishingly well-written Firefly was. I really wish she’d posted her thoughts in her LJ, as she came up with some really intriguing points.

I also talked about how Firefly brought the concept of a “used future” to a new level, and how disappointing it was that George Lucas seems to have left it by the wayside, favoring the shinier, more immaculate look preferred by shows like “Star Trek”. It’s especially disappointing, as George Lucas’ original trilogy was one of the main driving forces behind bringing the concept of the “used future” into the popular consciousness.

It’s so wonderful to just be able to talk, without having to worry about not getting work done. It still hasn’t sunk in that I’m free for the summer, and that I no longer have five massive projects hovering over my head. And now, I’m off to watch the Gene Wilder version of Willy Wonka. Huzzah! I have time to see movies again!

I put together a guide of movies, TV shows, and books I want to take in over the summer. It’s mostly meant to be for my own reference, but on the offchance that you guys are interested (as many of you have similar cinematic and literary interests), I figured I might as well post it. Here‘s the link!

I’m now totally redoing my “Who’s Who” and “What’s What” sections of my blog, as they haven’t been updated in two and a half years, and I’m brainstorming for a new layout.

Just to test the waters, what layout theme would you most like to see? I’m leaning towards Firefly/Serenity for obvious reasons, but I might want to save it for September. On the other hand, I’ve been considering a Gorey layout for some time, and I’ve been tossing around some other ideas for other fandoms I enjoy. Note that I’m not necessarily going to go with whatever gets the most votes, but it’s still a fun way to get reader input.

CoL Layout Poll
What layout theme would you most like to see for CoL?
Firefly/Serenity
Classic Star Wars trilogy
Edward Gorey
Calvin and Hobbes?
Sandman?
Bat Boy?
Something else? (write in the Comments)

It’s so surreal. For some unknown reason, my taste buds aren’t working properly together, and so whenever I eat or drink anything, I taste different flavors on different parts of my tongue. It’s like a fragmentation of my sense of taste. Trippy.

In other news, virtually all the numbness has worn off, so I can speak clearly again, even though I try to put a limit on my word count for fear of slowing the healing process. Also, a I can actually feel it now when I poke myself in the chin! The chin numbness gave me at least 15 minutes’ worth of entertainment this morning.

(Lalala I’M SEEING SERENITY IN JUST OVER 2 WEEKS!)

Flans: Check out Browncoat Jacqueline Passey‘s blog for details. She has a listing with links to the theatres and whether or not there are still tickets available. And here‘s the official website for the advance screenings, CantStopTheSignal.com. It still says May 5th, but it’s really the 26th, of course.

I look forward to when Universal decides to expand beyond the US borders. I know Flans all across the world that are itching to see this movie, and I hope they get the chance.

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

I AM SEEING SERENITY IN 17 DAYS!!!!!

Rachel just woke me up from my merry drug-induced haze to tell me that she had somehow acquired Serenity tickets for May 26th. You have no idea how funny it is to try to squee and gush like a madwoman with a completely numb jaw.

I dreamed that I was able to eat tortilla soup by this evening. That’s funny, because I’m still incapable of enunciating consonants. I could barely even swallow liquids after the surgery. But I’m in no pain at all, so drugs = yay! The doctor told me that the wisdom teeth came out very easily, and that he predicted I would bounce back in no time. I feel really well-rested, and I think that instead of sleeping, I’m going to kick back and relax and watch some movies.

After poring over the web, I finally found the thread that announced it. A post from Joss on the Browncoats board. Dallas is one of the 20 cities where there will be screenings! And apparently Rachel managed to get tickets before they were technically on sale, so go her! Gah, I love this woman. I don’t know what I would have done if I’d missed through this opportunity!

EEEEEE, I’M SEEING SERENITY!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now mouth hurts from talking, so to any of my friends: If you want to talk to me today, please email me, or tell me to get on AIM. I don’t think I’m doing the healing process any good by trying to speak.

Weird fandom crossover ships in my dream last night: Buffy/Sayid. Yeah, I don’t get it either. Sayid wrote this cryptic poem that when deciphered would guide a huge number of Iraqi refugees to me (Buffy) for safety. I had to protect them against an army of undead, demons, and Iraqi government officials.

And I’m not even on painkillers yet.

Oh — hope everyone had a good Octo de Mayo! (Sorry for the confusion earlier with that whole “Ocho” thing. Brain spaz!)

And the Backstory:

In Lower School one year, Cinco de Mayo came on a weekend. Therefore, the Spanish class held their festivities on the 8th of May rather than the 5th. Because we French students had a tenuous grasp of basic Spanish language concepts at best, we started joking about an “Octo de Mayo” celebration. The Spanish students stared blankly. It was great!

I’m home! I got two hours of sleep last night, three hours on the airplane, enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day brunch with my family, then took a three hour nap. I’m well on my way to catching up on my Zs! We had dinner at Jack’s, home of the most unbelievably delicious hamburgers in the universe, then mom and I watched (insert name of close friend)’s (insert name of close relation) on Desperate Housewives. (Haha, Felicia is Eve 6!) I was quite vexed to make the connection that I’m taking a summer course Wednesday evenings, which would conflict with Lost, but then of course, it would just be the season finale that I’d miss before it goes into summer reruns, and we can easily tape it. Anyway, there go my plans to have a big season finale party amongst all of my Lost fan friends!

And now I’m returning to Dreamland before undergoing oral surgery tomorrow morning. Stupid wisdom teeth.

(Wow, this incoherent and I’m still capable of feeble puns!)
