Flans: Here's a transcript of Joss' message to the fans at the Serenity screenings. Spoiler-free.
Priscilla said at 3:13 PM Just watched the bootleg Rent trailer from the Compulsive Bowlers boards. It's hard to see much of anything, but I'm seriously impressed. I thought Chris Columbus would absolutely maim the film, but I really liked what I saw. I look forward to when an official source puts out the trailer! We could only see about half the screen in the current boot.

Huzzah. Tried a different torrent provider, and this time the Lost finale came through perfectly. I do miss Penn's high-speed ethernet, though. I used to be able to download an episode in under two hours.
Priscilla said at 7:27 PM Spent 20 hours downloading the Lost season finale, only to find that the file didn't work. I miss BTEFnet.
Priscilla said at 6:23 PM Oh, and just to clear something up, the rant about no one commenting on my hair was directed to my IRL friends. I went to Hockaday graduation last night to see my ikkle wooblets graduate, and I expected people to notice my hair. Even the people that read my blog and knew how important this was to me didn't say a word until I deliberately asked them.
I need to be told that it looks okay, and I need to hear it often. All my life I've had long hair. I've even observed that my subconscious treats long hair as a sign of goodness in general, and short hair as a form of punishment. It used to be that if I was ever upset at someone, I'd dream about them with hacked-off hair. Bah. Priscilla said at 1:24 PM Comic SWAT -- A thoughtful analysis of some of comics' most ridiculous outfits, for superhero and villain alike! I think I ruptured my spleen laughing so hard.
Sorry, can't remember who linked me. Priscilla said at 1:07 PM The official website for Tim Minear's new show The Inside is up! Premieres June 8th. Maybe if I actually watch this one, it won't get cancelled. Because yes, I hold that kind of power.
Did I know that Adam Baldwin (Jayne) was going to be in the main cast? Priscilla said at 1:30 AM Now that's bizarre. My mom left a few pages in my room, torn from a magazine, from an article on the Dali exhibit in Philadelphia. The top page just suddenly floated about four feet, from the floor next to the end of my bed to the doorway to my bathroom. Obviously it was the light breeze from the air conditioner vent, but it was still surreal. An article about Dali flying across the room... would that be meta-surrealism?
I love my house. I always like to joke that it's haunted. My bedroom door has a trick to it so that it's difficult to open from the outside, but just requires a certain twist of the knob to open from the inside. Every so often, this door will randomly open, with no one nearby. It freaks my friends out whenever it happens. Also, because it's an old house and it's settling on its foundation, occasionally I'll hear creaks that sound like someone walking around my parents' room, when I'm the only one in the house. I've actually investigated the sounds on more than one occasion, thinking that someone had broken in. And that's your tangent for the evening. Priscilla said at 12:03 AM

In my LJ: Serenity and haircut pics
Priscilla said at 11:43 PM You know what the only thing worse than a traumatic haircut is? Getting a traumatic haircut and having NO ONE SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT. This is the shortest my hair has been since INFANCY. Everyone I know FAILS. I don't care if you haven't seen me in two years, REMARK UPON MY SHORN SCALP!
Priscilla said at 11:34 PM The new trailer for Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is out! Unfortunately, it's only available through AOL (at least, until the fans get a hold of it, rip the file, and make it available to the net in a dozen easily-downloadable formats). It didn't work properly when I tried opening it in Firefox, but for some reason, I had no problem when I tried opening it with IE. That's certainly a first.

My hair is starting to grow on me. And that sounds really funny if read in the wrong context. Because it lost so much of the length, it's a lot lighter, so it holds curl better. Of course, this makes it look even shorter, but oh well. It looks healthier. I've actually been considering cutting my hair for a while now, and while I was still of the belief that I wouldn't, maybe this is fate kicking me in the shins and saying "Stop whining!"
I think right now I just need to get over myself and sit back and let my hair grow. Feh. Priscilla said at 10:19 PM Note to self: When getting dramatic haircut, don't do it with a stylist you've never met. I wanted to get 4-5 inches off to even up the back and get rid of broken ends, but it looks like he hacked off more than 6. This is the shortest my hair has been in memory. I AM NO LONGER A MEMBER OF THE LHFCXDE. Plus, without asking me, he decided to cut my hair in a straight line across the back, so that it would be longer in the front. In the past, I've always done it the other way around. Coupled with Serenity trauma, this was not a good morning.
The afternoon, however, was fabulous. Mom gave me the go-ahead to get my new computer, and I keep going over the specs list and drooling. Dell Precision M70 Notebook with Windows XP Pro, 1 Gb RAM, 100 Gb hard drive, and 8x DVD+RW. The LCD is a 15.4" widescreen WUXGA, and the laptop itself is only 7 pounds and 1.6" thick. If you ever encounter a laptop sexier than that, I want it caught and shot now. And now, I have a week to decide on an appropriate name for it! *does a dance of joy* Priscilla said at 4:46 PM JOSS WHEDON YOU UNUTTERABLE BASTARD.
Unarguably one of the best movies I've ever seen. (Can unarguably and inarguably be used interchangably?) Just amazing. I laughed, I cried (I sobbed for thirty minutes solid), I cheered wildly. And I don't think anyone would consider it a spoiler if I praised Joss for keeping his promise and having no sound in space. I went in expecting a ramshackle musical score and a barrage of unfinished special effects shots, but the movie seemed polished to me. There were some timing (timering? Where you adjust color and light levels and stuff for printing the film.) issues in some shots, but aside from that, nothing jumped out at me as something that needed to be fixed. Though I bemoan having to wait until late September to see the movie again, I'm so glad that Joss got the extra time to perfect the film. I won the costume contest for my Zoe outfit. It turned out that it was just the four of us and some random guy that came as Mal that dressed up at all. Well, there were a handful of Blue Sun shirts and the like, but no one else serious. My prize was an autographed copy of Finding Serenity, signed by Jane Espenson. I won another copy of the book in the trivia contest, but traded with Rachel, who had won the Joss Whedon biography, as I had purchased a copy of Finding Serenity when it first came out. The trivia itself was embarassingly easy; Rachel won her prize for completing the phrase "two by two, ___", and I got mine for naming Mal's home planet. And here, when we found out about the trivia contest, Rachel and I were quizzing each other on stuff like "Where is Badger from?", "Name as many hat-trick actors (and their roles) as you can" and my all-time favourite, "Which two characters are seen using sugar tongs during the course of the series?" Anyway, I'll post pictures tomorrow. I'm off to cry myself to sleep now. ETA: Um, if anyone thinks I'm saying too much, let me know and I'll edit this entry. Priscilla said at 1:08 AM

I am seeing Serenity in less than five hours. It does not compute. I'm already in my Zoe costume (did I mention I switched? I couldn't find a proper jumpsuit for Kaylee), even though I won't leave to pick up Marcelina for another hour.
Don't worry, Cult of Lincoln will remain completely Serenity spoiler-free. I will squee and gush, certainly, but I will disclose no details, plot- or character-wise. You know, more and more I keep thinking I should just switch to LiveJournal. The LJ-cuts alone would be worth it. And hey, my half birthday was three days ago! Usually I'm more aware of stuff like that. My sister and I used to do all sorts of silly things for each other's fractional birthdays, when we were ikkle. I remember her giving me three quarters on a particular three-quarter birthday. Priscilla said at 5:15 PM Link grab bag!
From LifeHacker, via Friede. Murdered blogger’s post leads to killer. From a Joss Whedon interview: "Shaun of The Dead. That's the kind of movie that makes me want to make movies." Shabooyeah. OH MY GOD. Michelle Trachtenberg and Sean Maher starring in Lifetime's "The Dive From Clausen's Pier". Dawn/Simon, EW EW EW IT HURTS MY BRAIN. Umm, quick topic change. Tycho of Penny Arcade is among the golden few seeing Serenity tomorrow. Hopefully this should quell rumors of River being made out of chocolate. Google Maps Apparently Show UFOs! What do you mean, I forgot about Towel Day? Gah, I suck. I got all caught up in the rememberance of the People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road and it slipped my mind.
Sooo, Lost season finale. First of all, EEEEEEEE, CHARLIE/CLAIRE OMG OTP LIEK WOAH. *coughs* Secondly, WHY IS EVERYONE A MORON? Charlie: Stupid! Stupid stupid stupid! Sayid: Jerk! Kate: Darwin Awards candidate1. Why was she running around and jumping when she was under the impression she was wearing a backpack full of exceedingly tempermental dynamite? Jack: Chauvanist! Why couldn't you have given Kate the dynamite and saved us all a lot of irritation? Professor Redshirt: Haw haw! That was the funniest example of spontaneous human combustion since Monty Python. Sawyer: Looked like a dork with his hair pulled back. But boys that sing are awesome, so yay. Hurley: Awww, I could never be upset at you! SO MUCH HURLEYLOVE. Locke: Also great. BZZZT! *loves* But every so often, you did this creepy smile that made you look like you were going to molest someone. Stop doing that. Claire: Not stupid, but please, get your priorities in order! You give him a peck on the cheek for making you a Dutch baby carrier, but only a hug when he saves your infant son from a psychopathic French woman intent on trading said son to a bunch of murdering savages? The boy deserves mad smoochies. Make him forget all about the Smackfarthing! And I was exceptionally cross at Sayid, as he made me--for the briefest of instants--think that Sayid/Shannon was sweet. But then the camera went back to her and I was like "oh." You don't just forgive stuff like that. Also: maiming Charlie and taking him unnecessarily through the den of Smackfarthing. But a bit of my grudge against Shannon was lifted when she didn't resort to feminine wiles to get help with all the stuff she had to carry, and she instead told Sayid that she had everything under control when he offered to help her, so my intense loathing of Shannon has slightly diminished. And then, Sayid has his awesome moments where I can't help but love him and all is forgiven. "Do not hit me again" and similar. Yeah, Sayid is awesome. MASSIVE Sayid love. As for Charlie, I have to quote lots42: "Burning his last bit of drugs got him his guitar. Maybe he's hoping if he burns the new batch, he'll get a shiny new bicycle and a hot bikini for Claire." Humorous observations like this are the only thing preventing me from smacking the boy upside the head. And in the end, Danielle did the right thing and gave up Turniphead without a fight. Charlie really didn't need to tear into her like that. Also, "They were coming for the boy." Man, I watch 13 episodes of Wonderfalls and I didn't notice that it could just as easily be referring to Walt as Turniphead. I fail at So how many Jossed Charlie/Claire fanfiction writers will suddenly decide that Aaron is Charlie's middle name? XD When did Sawyer call Michael and Jin "Han" and "Chewie"? How did I miss something like that? What was in Sawyer's shirt that freaked Michael out? The gun, presumably? 1And speaking of the Darwin Awards, I probably shouldn't be laughing about this, but you have to admit, it's hilarious. Priscilla said at 9:03 PM

Watched the last of Wonderfalls. Hilarious, charming, and clever, but I think I can see why it got cancelled. While in its short run it stayed fresh and inventive, I could see it getting repetitive rather quickly. Boo to Fox, hearts to Tim Minear, and uncontrollable giggles to Jewel Staite.
Why is it that all our Big Damn Actors are evil in their later Whedon and Minear incarnations? A misogynistic preacher serving as the right-hand man of the First Evil, an evil goddess that robs the world of free will and is responsible for the horrors of Connor/Cordy, the manifestation of the Senior Partners, and the Wicked Wife of the West. Go figure. And at least they had sufficient prior notice of cancellation in order to wrap everything satisfactorily. Didn't Angel only have five episodes' notice? Anyway, Brenna: I've been using the "official" BitTorrent client, and recently BlogTorrent, because it set itself as default and I see no compelling reason to expend the effort to switch back. Using BitTorrent is easy. Download a client, then go to a site that has offers torrents, like those you listed. Click/open the torrent file. The file transfer should start automatically. Email me if you have any problems. Priscellie at gmail. Labels: wonderfalls Priscilla said at 11:14 PM Just checked my email, and it turns out I was wrong. Peer advisees have not been assigned yet. Those listed on the website were from last year.
50 HOURS UNTIL SERENITY! Priscilla said at 8:07 PM *snorks* You know how I spent most of yesterday on my Animation homework? It turns out I misread the assignment and accidentally did three weeks' worth of work. And to think, at Penn, I would have considered this a "light" assignment. (Of course, that might be because my professor was crazy).
I'm really going to have to work on my communication skills. Priscilla said at 6:35 PM Oh. So that's why I haven't heard anything regarding the assignment of my Peer Advisees over in a month. They've already been assigned, and somehow my name as an advisor was lost in the shuffle. That's obnoxious. I hope it's not too late for them to fix their mistake.

FOUR DAYS. 105 HOURS. EEEEEEEE!!!!!
Priscilla said at 12:56 PM Re: The Spike and Wes "Percy" thing, upon a repeat viewing of "A Hole in the World".
If Spike has seen The Nightmare Before Christmas, I'm willing to bet he's read Harry Potter. The sentimental sap in me wants to imagine that he and Dawn read it together in the summer after Buffy died. And I need to stop reading fluff. Priscilla said at 12:20 PM Rented Wonderfalls on a whim when out for dinner, was immediately sucked in, and watched the first six episodes in one sitting. I would have watched more, but I wanted to save some for tomorrow, given that there are only 13 episodes. WHY WAS THIS SHOW CANCELLED? What is it about Tim Minear that turns TV execs into gibbering morons?

FIVE DAYS, TEN HOURS.
Got together with Chungy, Eunice, and Mein Schlienen last night. Originally we were all going to Chungy's for dinner, as her mom had offered to make us authentic Korean cuisine, but she'd had a long day, so we didn't want to impose. Instead, we had dinner at Chili's for old times' sake, got gelato at Paciugo, then returned to my house to watch an anime called Appleseed and some Firefly. Appleseed was gorgeous -- I think I missed half the dialogue just admiring the blend of CG and traditional 2D animation. Firefly was interesting, as Chungy had somehow gotten it into her head that there was a lot of teen angst-type drama on the show. I wanted to make her rewatch the episodes she'd seen ("Serenity", "The Train Job", "Our Mrs Reynolds", and "Jaynestown"), because I don't have the foggiest clue how she could misremembered so severely, but as Marcelina had been with us when we watched those four episodes, I didn't want to make her rewatch an episode for Chungy's sake when she was already so excited about the show. Instead, we watched "Ariel", which I felt had a good representation of the Firefly dynamic, without necessarily requiring a lot of backstory for Eunice's sake (who hadn't seen any). After that, everyone went home, and I vowed to fix Chungy's bizarre misconception through excessive consumption of Whedon-y goodness. I only wish that we'd been able to convert her earlier, so that she could have seen Serenity with us. Oh well, I sincerely doubt that the May 26th screenings will be the last ones, so it's probably not too late. (Oh, and Rachel -- Marcelina agrees with me that Cherise would make a much better Zoe, if only for the hair. Hah!) Priscilla said at 11:57 AM

Dear god. And people are shocked and horrified when our soldiers are abused by their captors.
Priscilla said at 3:52 PM Responses to Comments:
Tori: I loves you back! Schlien: Oh, I agree that Jin was always attractive. The man is gorgeous. But in this episode it was like WOAH HOLD ME BACK. Allison: I adore my shallow, self-absorbed, ridiculous, stupid blondes. My love for movie!Zaphod (only because his hair color is not book-canon), Glory, Harmony, and Galinda (to name a few) knows no bounds. But those characters had the force of personality to back up their ego. Shannon is shallow, self-absorbed, ridiculous, and an introvert. And while she had no difficulty translating Danielle's message (spoken quite rapidly -- I couldn't keep up and I've had years of French), she had trouble translating "azur infinie" to "blue infinity" when it was written out on paper. Useless. And regardless of how much I dislike the pairing, I think that being with Sayid is probably the last thing she needs right now. Now that Boone is gone, she finally has the opportunity to learn to fend for herself and not be completely reliant on others. I hope Sayid recognizes this and doesn't let her just transfer all her needyness from Boone onto him. Renata: Every time my friends get together to watch Eddie Izzard, I somehow always have somewhere else I need to be. I've seen short snippets of his routines, and I think he's quite possibly one of the funniest people on the planet, so I must now give up on the notion of watching the DVDs with my friends and just go out and rent them myself. :D Meghan: Fabulous! Do you know where I can download any Veronica Mars episodes? Keith: Mostly it was about his reaction to the gay marriages in California last year. I found his remarks at best short-sighted and insensitive, and at worst downright offensive. Beth: Alan Tudyk in a nun's habit? Bwahaha, YES. And something tells me he could SO pull it off. Meghan again: Alan Tudyk suspended from the ceiling in a glittery thong/leotard in Spamalot? I am so afraid. For some reason, I'm getting visions of Alan as Rocky, singing "The Sword of Damocles." And it doesn't help my mental images to know that Anthony Head has actually played Frank. So today marks the one-year anniversary of Not Fade Away, the series finale of Angel. It's also the one-year anniversary of me being a Buffy fan, as Cyth showed me the first two episodes the night NFA aired. In honor of this day, I've been rewatching Angel season 5, and DEAR GOD I LOVE THIS SHOW. I'd like to know what on earth was going through those execs' heads, if anything at all. But I'm in an excellent mood right now and not feeling particularly bitter.
Here's to Joss for 12 fantastic seasons of TV! As you can see from the state of the fandom, Buffy and Angel are most definitely not fading away. Priscilla said at 10:24 PM Serenity

You know what bothers me? Seeing a "SPOILER WARNING!" on someone's episode review and not knowing if it's spoilers for that night's episode or spoilers for future episodes. So to make things abundantly clear:
SPOILERS FOR TONIGHT'S LOST, BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE A WUSS. Okay, first off, how did I magically intuit that Sawyer's name was James? I don't read fanfic, so it's not some fanon speculation deal... Trippy. Maybe it's a "steamrolled Harry Potter" thing. Jack, silly boy, Rule 735,862 of Television states that you cannot make references to things that are referenced in Monty Python without suffering severe silliness casualties. Suggesting that Sawyer was a lumberjack back on Earth-That-Was will automatically trigger the entire audience to imagine him in women's clothing, hanging around in bars. While we appreciate the shirtless Sawyer fanservice, I'm not sure if we'd feel the same about seeing him wearing high heels, suspenders, and a bra. Anyway, was it just me, or was Daniel Dae Kim unusually attractive tonight? That last series of close ups that switched between him and Sun? GUH. Did anyone recognize the Insensitive American "Memoirs of a Geisha" Woman? She looked oddly familiar. Oh, and Locke was so checking Danielle out. Things that are awesome: Hurley, Jin/Sun (EEEEE!!!), Artz's "Herm-own-ninny" moment, Walt and Vincent *sob*, Charlie's "message in a bottle" (And Charlie opening Hurley's note just after he said not to read it? SO CHARLIE. *loves*) Things that are not cool: Shannon, Shannon, and more Shannon. I don't care if you've "changed" since then. I still find you intolerable. Teaser: Charlie! Sayid! Turnip Head! Wah! Priscilla said at 8:34 PM Oh! Last night, I finally got around to seeing The Hebrew Hammer, which Cyth lent me months ago. Dear gravy that was hilarious! I recommend it to anyone, Jew and gentile alike!
*updates Summer Guide* Oh, and as for other stuff on my Summer Guide... Those I've talked to that have seen Veronica Mars either love it or hate it. Do any of you guys have opinions? Priscilla said at 3:12 PM The book meme! Renata tagged me, so I figured I might as well do it.
1) Total number of books owned? After performing a rough survey of the books in my room, I think the number is around 250-300. 2) The last book I bought? Mirrormask Illustrated Film Script, Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean 3) The last book I read? I'm currently reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, by Susanna Clarke 4) Five books that mean a lot to me? (in no particular order) The Phantom Tollbooth, Norton Juster -- after over a decade, still one of my favourite books Ender's Game, Orson Scott Card -- my first significant example of a book I loved that I later couldn't stomach because of the sociopolitical views of the author. The Animorphs and Harry Potter series -- for how the fandoms contributed to who I am today Men at Arms, Terry Pratchett -- still idly toying around with musical ideas, even though I've mostly given up My little black book I carry around with me all the time -- for obvious reasons 5) Tag 5 people and have them fill this out: Umm... are there any of you out there that haven't filled it out yet? I've long since lost track. Priscilla said at 2:50 PM Casting info for X3: Frasier's Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut, and Lost's Maggie Grace as Kitty Pryde. I love how they've recast Kitty for each movie. And how Maggie is nowhere near the age or appearance of the girls that played Kitty in the previous two movies.
Priscilla said at 2:33 PM I just had a moment of "Oh yeah, DeviantArt exists." I have over 500 message center items. There goes my afternoon!
Priscilla said at 2:27 PM Ooh! I check my flist once more before bed, and what do I find? Covers for the third Serenity comic! And they're every bit as funny as I expected them to be, given the first six. River's isn't so humorous -- it just has a very "I *hart* Adobe Illustrator kthxbye!!1"-type vibe. And I do find it funny how obviously it was referenced from what is probably the most widely-used promo shot of River. Wash's I can't wait to caption. (Oh, I hope it's the next subject of Caption Tightpants on FFF.n!) It looks like poster art for "The Sound of Music: In Space!"1 And the idea of Simon with a huge gun makes me snerk mightily. Look at that arm! Look at those muscles! He's a doctor, yet it looks like his head has been pasted on the body of... I don't know, Gaston? And he's dressed like a Ren Faire reject. He looks like he should have a ponytail for some reason. Silly boy.
1 "The Sound of Music: In Space". Maybe "The Sound of Music: 3000" would sound better, as there is no sound in space, and therefore no sound of music. Of course, the events of Firefly happen in [I don't have the patience to look up the date], and you KNOW that in "The Sound of Music: In Space" they fight Space Nazis, so I'm going with that. And now I'm going to bed. May visions of shirtless Sean Maher dance in my head! Priscilla said at 2:23 AM The new Fox lineup. AKA, "They cancelled Firefly and Angel for this?"
Priscilla said at 1:16 AM For those that go for that sort of thing, clips from tomorrow's Lost episode.
First third of the finale! Whoo! So are we going to have a mini-get together to watch it, seeing as how so many people I know IRL are fans? And how Cyth has a TV the size of my car? Priscilla said at 1:10 AM *SCREAMS*

EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! WASH!!!! SINGING!!! And Hank Azaria is taking off from June to November, so if I can get tickets for Spamalot in September, the timing would be perfect. I'm going to be the only girl in this class, aren't I?
Priscilla said at 5:27 PM AAARGH again. I went to double-check the UTD website to make sure that my second class had not been cancelled before beginning the rush-hour trek to the school, and I found that while it lists my second class as "open", it still lists the first class as "open", too! And it still appears on my student schedule! Rrgh, useless.
Priscilla said at 4:01 PM NOT COOL. They cancelled the Intermediate 3D Modeling/Animation course. And of course, they never phoned or emailed me about the cancellation, so I wasted an hour and a half of my afternoon driving over to UTD and back. The Advanced course this evening is still in place, however, so I'll still have something animation-related this summer, but it starts at 6PM, and because of traffic at that hour, I'd probably have to leave at 4. It's just under 30 minutes without traffic, and now I'm going to be going up during rush hour. Rrgh, hulk smash!
Priscilla said at 1:11 PM The Angel soundtrack is released today in the US. Finally! Lovely stuff.
Priscilla said at 10:46 AM Just woke up from some exhaustively vivid dreams; now waiting for the NyQuil to overcome the brownie and orange juice I consumed so I could take the pain pill.
In my sleeplessness, via Whedonesque: a sneak peek at the Serenity comic (takes place between "Objects in Space" and the movie). The dialogue really hits home how much I love Nathan Fillion. It feels so awkward and flat on the page, but then you imagine Nathan's voice behind it, and the life-force is renewed! Well, it's that way for all the characters, but it seemed more significant with Mal. I don't know, my brain is fuzzing out. Back to bed for me. Priscilla said at 4:56 AM

Priscilla said at 10:02 AM Beth makes some excellent points about the stupidity of the MPAA in her LJ. In that same vein, in a deliberate gesture of snook cocking, does anyone know where I can find episodes of Veronica Mars and the new Dr. Who for download?
(I would like to take this opportunity to again declare my love for the phrase "cock a snook". If I were to compile a list of the Best Phrases Ever, it would definitely be near the top. So useful, so economical, so vuagely dirty-sounding yet in reality so innocent!) And unrelated, but this Metaquote makes me laugh a lot. Priscilla said at 12:15 AM

Has anyone made an icon with Anakin/Vader that says "Sith Happens"? Because if not, I totally disown fandom for having FAILED.
In other news, Mein Schlienen, do you want to dress up for Serenity? Rachel is going as River and Cherise is waffling between Zoe and Inara (I'm pushing for the former, Rachel the latter). I was thinking I'd be Kaylee, as no one needs two Rivers (and I always feel kind of odd lusting over Simon when dressed as his sister), but then I figured if you wanted to dress up as well, you'd make an adorable Kaylee. Or you would make a fantastic Saffron, or even Jayne should you desire. (It is, after all, a girl's name.) I love all my Firefly women, and I'll gladly take whoever's left. GL/SS- Priscilla said at 7:43 PM Melissa (my newly-graduated older sister) stopped by this evening to watch TV and munch on leftovers from last night's festivities. We watched "Arsenic and Old Lace" together, which is one of my favourite plays. Yay for Turner Classic Movies! It entertains me that the love interest is played by an actress named Priscilla Lane, when I was named after a woman named Priscilla Lane. Not the same person, obviously, but still. We Priscillas are a rare breed.
Anyway, this had me in a ridiculous gigglefit. A re-dubbed version of the "Frodo Awakens" scene, ganked from Indy. Puts me in the mind of the hilarious Wizard People, Dear Reader, which will be screened at my house this summer, mark my words. Ikkle seniors, when would be a good time to get together? Serenity in 11 days! *bounces* And OH MY GOSH, there needs to be a screening of "Wizard People" at "The Witching Hour"! Dear lord, that would be hilarious... Priscilla said at 7:15 PM

*squeals* My sister just graduated! Eeee, yay! Off to help out with the party setup now.
Priscilla said at 7:39 PM Blogger word verification: huh? Is this going to be a recurring thing, because that's just annoying.
12 days until Serenity! Priscilla said at 1:58 PM

A highly amusing comment on the MPAA's asshattery this morning.
Copyfight blog Corante reports on the shutdown And more articles linked from Indy, plus a few link recs to try to make up for the loss of BTfenet. Priscilla said at 2:06 PM *RAGE* MPAA Targets Six BitTorrent TV Sites. You UNBELIEVABLY STUPID PEOPLE! There is NO HARM WHATSOEVER in pirating TV! It solidifies your audience and serves as an excellent tool for bringing new fans in, or catching up already-converted fans when they miss an episode! You lose NO REVENUE until you bring the DVDs of the show out, and in that case, if fans were going to buy the DVDs to begin with, most likely they will still buy the DVDs regarless of whether they have all the episodes burned on CD. Piracy for TV only increases the number of fans likely to purchase DVDs! We think the commentary tracks and higher video/audio quality and deleted scenes and featurettes are worth it! I have all of Buffy Season 7 burned on CD, but I still bought the DVDs, and all my experience in the fandom indicates that I'm in the definite majority on this issue. I still plan of buying the Lost DVDs, even though I have nearly the entire series in HDTV-quality! We want to support the shows we love, and we'd like it if the studios would HELP us spread the love, rather than trying to LIMIT THE FRICKIN' FANBASE. And plus, according to current laws, while legally in a grey area, it's NOT TECHNICALLY ILLEGAL.
In the article, they say: There are thousands of people in the entertainment industry who are working to develop, produce, and promote television shows. Those shows and those jobs are worth protecting. Show me ONE PERSON in the entertainment industry who will lose his/her job because of piracy. Tell me ONE WAY that TV piracy can cause harm, and I'll shut up. Piracy is THE REASON Firefly got its STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID IDIOT MORONS! *RAGES* And man, couldn't they have waited TWO WEEKS for Lost to be over? Priscilla said at 9:57 AM

Serenity: TWO WEEKS! EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Teeth: Pretty good, but I think something isn't healing properly. I'm scheduling a checkup for tomorrow morning. Sleep: Why do I want to go to sleep at 9:30? Probably because I woke up at 5:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep because of my nap yesterday. Silly biological clock! Doesn't it know that it doesn't have to keep ridiculous hours anymore? Classes: My summer class schedule shifted about, giving me two back-to-back four-hour classes on Tuesdays, with a one-hour dinner break at 5. Mommy? Oh well, I have two weeks to decide if I'm going to drop one, and the 9-hour block certainly saves driving time. And I won't miss any Lost, which is nice. Durr. Priscilla said at 9:39 PM I wrote a rather long, tetchy post about last night's Lost episode, but I realized in the morning that it wasn't the show in general I was irked at, it was the uselessness of Kate. But it's always nice to vent, so I'm still posting (albeit in a wee tiny font), in all its rambling, unedited glory.
Lost. Feh, another Kate episode. Good thing we have Charlie/Claire to make it worthwhile! Ikkle TurnipHead, lulled to rest by the soothing tones of Driveshaft... Domestic haircutting bliss... an invite to live with him in LA... Only non-lame part of the entire episode! *does the ovary dance*Here endeth the useless ranting. Feel free to forget and/or ignore most of what you just read. Anyway, this makes me feel a lot better, so hurrah. Side note: I love that when Jin and Sun speak Korean, they speak Korean. That will never stop being cool. It's kind of weird in comparison when Sayid and the HoSuBoYay gang all speak English to each other, but it's okay, because I highly doubt Naveen Andrews knows Arabic, being Indian and all. Stupid Kate. I hope LostZilla eats her. Or she could drown, that would be fun! Or get mobbed by a pack of flesh-eating weasels. Priscilla said at 8:20 PM Booyeah! C+ in Networked Life, the class I tanked both exams in! (One taken while still recovering from Horrific Flu From Hell, the other taken at the pinnacle of Hell
*dances the merry "I didn't fail the 100-level computer science course I'd intended to take as an easy-A" jig* Yes, I fully realize I am horrifically lame. I care not. Now the only class I don't know about is Animation. Not sure if Josh is going to take points off for the number of extensions I needed, but he appeared to really like my animations, so yay. And I got solid As on everything else I turned in, so I've got that going for me. Priscilla said at 7:37 PM

Mmm, 4 1/2 hour nap. Summer vacation rocks.
Priscilla said at 3:49 PM I really should have compliled these into multiple entries. Info and cover art for the second of the three Serenity prequel comics. On sale August 3rd! And for those that missed it, here's the equivalent post for Issue #1, on sale July 6.
A tad annoying that my three favourite characters will all be variant covers of the same issue. Priscilla said at 10:51 AM Keen! Cover art for the Deluxe Edition of HP&HBP!
Priscilla said at 10:46 AM Dude! Ganked from DeeDee: Face of Tutankhamun reconstructed
Priscilla said at 10:32 AM Serenity update: 15 DAYS!
Wisdom teeth update: OW OW OW OW OW I think I'm going to relax and work from my bed. Now that I have a 20-foot ethernet cord that I accidently stole from Rebecca at our last meeting, I'll be able to stretch that far! And brilliant, fantastic, unbelievable, phenomenal news: I'm getting a new computer! Still shopping around, but as Jimmy is now nibbling experimentally at the dust in preparation for the big bite, my parents have given me permission to say "Hello" to Mr. Trust Fund and upgrade. Thank you, Jimmy, for years of loyal service! Priscilla said at 10:25 AM Hey, the official RENT movie site is up, and it looks like we have a release date! 11/11/05! *scampers off to update sidebar accordingly*
Also, Ashley, dahlink: Learn to tolerate people getting the name of your school slightly wrong. At least there's only one Engineering college called "Olin". You won't have to put up with a bunch of people saying "You go to the University of Pennsylvania? If you wanted to go to a state school, why not A&M/UT?" or worse, "Penn? Oh, you mean Penn State?" Becky -- send it over! priscellie at gmail.
Ashley, Mimi, Tori, etc: Those of you who have seen HHGTG in Dallas, do you know of any theatres that are playing the Serenity trailer? Priscilla said at 2:40 PM I don't know if I already knew this, but the Serenity prequel comic is coming July 6th.
Priscilla said at 1:09 PM Tony Nominations Announced. Man, I need to see Spamalot.
In other news, our house is getting re-roofed today. Every so often, massive chunks of roofing material come cascading down the side of our house and make very loud crashing noises upon impact with the ground. It's kind of fun, in a "I don't dare set foot outside my home for fear of certain death by decapitation" sort of way. Priscilla said at 12:58 PM Days until I see Serenity: 16!
How obnoxious do I plan on being about this? Very! Priscilla said at 12:47 PM Revamped my Who's Who? page. I know I'm leaving off a whole lot of new online friends, but at least it doesn't indicate I'm still in high school.
Priscilla said at 12:24 PM Naveen Andrews cast in ABC's The Ten Commandments. He's slated to play Menerith.
Looking over IMDB, I believe that this is only the second time he's been cast as an Arab. It's kind of funny. But it makes me curious: do people ever get offended when an actor of one nationality gets cast to play a character of different nationality? I'm sure some do; I don't think there's an issue in the world that someone doesn't find offensive. But oh well. Anyway, I've made some updates to my Summer Book/TV/Movie Guide. Thanks for the recs, Renata! The books you mentioned sound quite awesome. Onwards, to the library! Priscilla said at 10:20 AM All the May 26th Serenity screenings are sold out, as of last night. Bravo for the Browncoats!
Priscilla said at 10:17 AM The morning after, I'm munching scrambled eggs like a pro! I've chosen to stop taking the perscription painkillers and graduate to Motrin. My jaw is still a bit sore and it aches a tad if I open it too far, but overall, life is good. My grades are starting to come in, and I have an A for the "Lady in the Dark" project, an A- for "Copyright and Culture", and I predict an A or A- for "Virtual World Design". I predict a C for "Networked Life" due to my performance on the exams, which will hopefully be offset by the extra credit I submitted and my strong work on the homeworks and final project. I'm not sure what to expect for Animation, but I'd imagine somewhere in the high B or low A range. I've gotten solid As on everything else I've submitted, but the lateness of my final project might cost me.
