The Cult of Lincoln

As at least 12 people on my flist have pointed out, the name of the sixth HP book has been revealed! And like an idiot, I immediately posted it myself as well, not thinking that there could be some who wouldn't want to know yet for reasons beyond my comprehension. So anyway, in absence of an LJ-cut, I've blacked out the text. Highlight the supposedly blank space below to read.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
Rowling added, "Certain crucial pieces of information in book six were originally planned for Chamber of Secrets, but very early on (first draft of Chamber) I realized that this information's proper home was book six. I have said before now that Chamber holds some very important clues to the ultimate end of the series. Not as many as six, obviously, but there is a link." Rowling said that the "half blood prince" of the title is neither Harry nor Voldemort.
Find out how to see the message on JKRowling.com here at The Leaky Cauldon.

Though I must confess, I prefer alice_and_lain's suggestion of "Percy Weasley and the Black-Haired Kid with the Lightning Scar."

Firefly fans: Join the Browncoats! You can rack up points to later exchange for stuff, and if you join with this link, you'll get me points, too!

Or if you don't want to join, click some of the following links: Firefly Fortums, FireFlyFans.net, or The Official Serenity Movie Website. That gets me points, too!

Mmmm, Firefly. To anyone that hasn't seen it yet, now would be your cue to go rent/buy it. So much Joss-y goodness, *happysigh*.

This just in: Blaise Zabini is a boy. Honestly, I think this is going to create a greater upset in the fandom than Sirius' death.

Man, and here I was hoping that this would be one of those mysteries of the books that would never be resolved. Alas.

Alan Cumming vs. Ray Park. I think I would have died. Ah, deleted scenes from early drafts of X2!

Also, if you hadn't heard already, the original trilogy of Star Wars is finally coming to DVD. With new mutilations modifications from George Lucas! (But whatcha wanna bet that the matte lines on the Rancor are still there? XD) Check out the trailer here. Wow, I feel five years old again...

Woo-hoo! I am a technological goddess! We ended up needing a new router, so now that's all resolved, and is it just me, or is this connection WAY faster than on our old one? Look at those pages go by, zoom!

In other news, the Firefly/Serenity Movie Blog is up! With a message from Nathan Fillion! I love my captain. :D

And in real news, a recent study shows that 55,000+ people who visited CNN.com today (about 1/3 who participated) are completely clueless.

So there really is going to be a Buffy cartoon? I thought that was a joke. It should be a joke. As Cyth said, the show really was meant to be acted. Come on, so much of the charm is in the cheesy TV-grade special effects! And it was so much fun to play "spot the demon body parts translated directly from Woochie!" And it would probably have to be dumbed down quite a bit to make it as a cartoon... urgh, not cool. I agree with Cyth, I'd rather see another spinoff. Spike! Or Ripper! And Giles could team up with the undead ghost of Jenny and fight crime as super genius librarian/computer science professors and OTP like mad! Woohoo!

Or, y'know, something.

So all yesterday and all this morning, our internet was down, which was not cool. I was on the phone with tech support for about 2 1/2, maybe 3 hours before I finally got it limping. We can now connect if I plug the modem straight into this computer, but the router is being finnicky, so only one computer (of the three in our house) can work at a time. Very uncool, especially as my mom's computer has been designated The Chosen One, and I have to put up with her freaky monitor settings and such. Ah well, better than no connection at all! I shudder to think of catching up with LJ. Der.

And now: lunch!

Wow, the English language must hate me. :D

So I'm finally writing my letter to JKR, asking for permission to publish "What's in a Name." I'm describing Renata's American Gods success story as an example of preceedent. Gah, it's so weird to call Neil "Mr. Gaiman."

Dear Joss Whedon,

Jenny. Oz. And now Doyle. I hate you I hate you I hate you! You are evil and my heart has been rent to tens of thousands of embittered, spiteful, Doyle-less pieces. He had AN IRISH ACCENT. And his nose looked slightly like BILLY BOYD'S in profile! And he and Cordelia were REALLY REALLY CUTE! He was my sole reason for watching Angel! Destroy one more of my OTPs and there will be WORDS. You are horrible and terrible and I hate you forever and ever and how's work on the Firefly movie going?

Bipolarly,
Priscilla
P.S. WAH!

*snorks* I miss Dean. And Dean's supporters.

And to give this post more substance, here's the latest from AWN. Again, I refuse to pass judgement at this point in time.
SHREK 3 SCRIPT DETAILS ANNOUNCED.

With DreamWorks founder Jeffery Katzenberg previously talking up morebSHREK sequels at Cannes, DreamWorks has announced that HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS scribes Peter Seaman and Jeffrey Price will write the screenplay for SHREK 3. In addition, Jon Zack (PERFECT SCORE) has been hired as a script consultant.

The studio confirms that the third film will deal with King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Internet rumors state that the film will follow Shrek and Fiona's attempts to hand over their new crowns to Fiona's friend Arty (i.e. King Arthur), who is attending college with cheerleader Genevieve and jock Lancelot.

Like the other SHREK films, other writers will be brought onto the project to polish it after Seaman and Price. The studio said they might look to writers who worked on the previous films in the franchise.

No director(s) have been announced and it is most probable that stars Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy will return as the key voices. The actors received $5 million for SHREK 2 and should be able to negotiate bigger paychecks after the stellar performance of the sequel. DreamWorks hopes to have SHREK 3 in theaters for the holidays in 2006.

This evening, mum and I went to a Human Rights Campaign event at an acquaintance's house, then met up with Dad to see "The Day After Tomorrow." You know, most people are skeptical about the outrageous bad science that dominates the movie's plot, but I found even more egregious the insinuation that the movie's vice president's appearance and demeanor were similar to that of Dick Cheney, yet at the end of the movie, he admits he was wrong! Who do those writers think they're fooling? XD

I guess I'd better go ahead and recap what's been going on the past few days.
  1. I met Kell! She came to Dallas for A-Kon. My parents and I took her and her father to dinner Thursday night, before PoA. I got a sneak preview of the next issue of Sundowner! It's going to be so awesome. *loves* She even drew a tiger for me in my little book!
  2. Where was I when I found out Reagan died? On the way to pick up Kell and her dad for dinner. We happened to drive past a bank and I saw the flags outside at half mast and inquired to my parents about it. They told me. I need to get back in the habit of listening to Air America.
  3. I actually saw PoA twice, once at midnight with the A-Kon people, Kell, and the usual crowd from my grade in high school, and the other the next morning, with Mimi and Tori and the usual crowd from their year. Crazy fun ensued! At midnight, I had the intention of being a Mary Sue, but when I saw the wig Kell brought for me (she uses it to Cosplay as Galadriel), I thought I would make a decent Fleur. Of course, the wig had the unfortunate side effect of making me look like a particularly inexpensive streetwalker. Fun. The next morning, I dressed as Percy, complete with Weasley sweater (*sob*), glasses (*double sob*), wand (paint brush), and sprayed red hair. Pictures will be posted soon, despite my claims that they would be up Friday afternoon.
  4. I've watched several Buffy episodes over the past couple days (I am so hooked), and it's so keen! In the episode I'm watching now, Buffy is wearing sheep pajamas THAT I OWN. And in another episode, Willow wears a shirt with a map of Africa on the sleeves THAT MY MOM OWNS AND I FREQUENTLY BORROW. We are so cool!
  5. (No, you're not.) Wow, I've become more reliant on my blog than I was aware. I was trying to think of what else I've done ove the past few days, and I went to look at my recent posts to see if I had written about anything. I am such a dork. XD
  6. Oh! Duh! Burkhead's coming out party! I knew there was something of vital importance that was slipping my mind! Burkhead came out Saturday night! And that is, as a debutante; not as a homosexual. XD Her dress was utterly gorgeous, and she was the height of poise and general awesomeness. Go her!
Meanwhile, this is amusing. Oh, Ashcroft! And oooh, Sean Astin was wearing two Kerry stickers at the MTV movie awards! Hobbits for Kerry! To go along with "Aragorn is Howard Dean" and Mutants for Kerry, inspired by my costume and purse buttons at A-Kon. Bwaha.

P.S. CANNONEST CANON THAT EVER CANNONED DOWN CANON STREET. I LOVE YOU, CUARON.

My mom has developed a viscious mean streak. She has decided that I need to wake up at 7:45 every morning to go exercising with her, because that's the time she says I'd wake up if I had a job or if I was going to summer school. So apparently now I'm not allowed to sleep in during the last free summer I'll ever have (before retirement, at least), as I'm sure I'll be getting a job next summer.

She rationalizes the ungodly hour by saying that it's 9:00 Philadelphia time. Well when I'm in Philadelphia I'll let her know. I wouldn't really like to wake up at 9AM either. And guess what? It's 4:45AM Alaska time! Does that have any bearing on my being awake while I'm in Dallas? No. If she wants me to be industrious, she should let me stay on my own natural sleep cycle. I tried to exercise at 8 in the morning yesterday, and I could barely even comprehend reality, my head was so fuzzy. I'll operate heavy machinery when I'm good and coherent, thankyouverymuch.

Have I done something to offend her or anger her? Is this some passive-agressive vengance for wronging her in some way? Grghlfsg, maybe I'll feel better after a shower...

Dear All DVD Media Players on My Computer,

Bite me.

Love,
Priscilla

There's something wrong with my computer. I can't view DVDs! The audio is perfect, but I just get a black screen! Well, InterActual lets me, but my DVD player is whack and it doesn't play properly unless I stop it, then press play again, and InterActual doesn't want to let me do that. WAH.

Last night was so crazy. I was assembling my costume for PoA, and after raiding everyone in my family's closets (hah, there's an amusing misplaced modifier for you) and coming up empty, I called my sister at her apartment and asked her if I could raid her closet as well. The weather made it clear that a storm was brewing, but I figured I could get there and back before it broke. When I was about halfway there, I happened to look to the south through a break in the trees, and I was stunned. The sky there was bright orange. Photoshop orange. I doubt if I've even seen a sunset with such a bright orange. It was majorly unsettling, especially when I looked at my clock and saw that it was 8:45, way too late for the sun to be setting.

Once at Melissa's I found the perfect outfit. Hurrah! Of course, she had her TV on, and one of those emergency broadcast ribbons popped up on the screen, announcing a tornado warning in the counties south of Fort Worth. Gah. It was just starting to drizzle as I left the garage, but before I'd even gone a block, it started pouring. The wind was ridiculous. I decided to just try to make it home, as it's just a 10 minute drive, but good gravy, it was scary.

Branches were ripped off of trees, lightning was larger and brighter than I'd ever seen it, and the rain was coming down so hard that my windshield wipers wouldn't go fast enough for me to see clearly. The wind buffetted my car with such force that I started imagining losing control of my car and being whisked away. I mentally thanked my parents for insisting I get a huge car, because I dread to imagine how a lighter weight car would have fared. I belted out "Singing in the Rain" over and over to focus and to prevent myself from realizing how terrified I was. As I drove, it almost seemed as though I was some power leech, because just as I passed by buildings and streetlights, the power would go out. This happened three times. It was so strange. When I finally got to the house, I was relieved to see that the lights were still on, but then I glanced down to look in my rearview and sideview mirrors to make sure it was safe to turn into my driveway. Lightning flashed, and when I looked up again, all the light in my neighborhood was gone. Just great.

I went to the kitchen first and found our little candle lighter so that I'd actually be able to see. Unfortunately, yhe stupid thing was childsafe, which meant it was virtually impossible for anyone to use. Keeping it lit was a major annoyance. Then, I went to my room, where I knew I had a flashlight. Using that flashlight, I found more flashlights and some candles. I lit two in the dining room and sat down to finish A Hat Full of Sky and wait for my parents to get home. We all turned in early.

And that's all I have to say about that.

What are the house colors of Sparklypoo? Pink and silver? Purple and silver? Pink and purple? Some other nauseating combination?

I'm just curious. Not that this has anything to do with tomorrow's midnight screening of PoA. I told my friends I would be going as Percy, not a Mary Sue! And I'm sticking to that, of course! Hahahaha, you're such a joker.
